In 2016, Ontario Culture Days launched a new initiative - the Youth Arts Ambassadors Program (YAAP). The program focuses on supporting the next generation of community-engaged artists in our province, commissioning four emerging professionals 30 years of age or younger to create new works of art in their home towns. The artworks and corresponding public programs are unveiled over the Culture Days weekend.
As YAAP enters its third year, we are increasing the emphasis on the role of arts ambassadorship. The YAAP artists will be partnered with local host organisations to develop outreach and programming initiatives that directly relate to the needs of their local community. Alongside this relationship-building, Culture Days will provide the artists with educational resources to deepen their understanding of arts advocacy, arts marketing and program development.
Keep up with the developments of the Youth Arts Ambassadors’ projects by visiting this page, checking out Culture365, or by following the hashtag #YAAP on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
